Rear seat-belt tension 200 1983

Hi again,

Is there any way to increase the tension of the seat-belt retraction spring for the rear belts on these old 240 sedans? They seem to just hang down the back of the rear seat unless I go back and "force feed" them back onto the spool . . .

I thought that this was covered once, but I couldn't find the link/archive--my apologies in advance if I've overlooked it.

Thanks again for all the help and advice.

Best Regards,

Steve A-

Hello,

I would try some PB Blaster or equivalent in the retraction assembly, carefully avoiding spraying it on the actual belt. I would also fully extend the belt before lubrication as well. Other than that, it seemed that every time I tried to mess with belts they always got worse than they were before, LOL!!!

Happy Bricking!!!

I seem to remember people saying that a spring can be wound tighther inside the mechanism, however its a "dangerous" process.

I am not responsible if you hurt yourself.
