brake booster 140-160 1971

I just searched the archives for brake booster re-build places and found only the White Post company. Does anyone know an alternative source for rebuilding the booster from my '71 142E.

Jim

    Found it!!

4½ years ago a fellow named Tim Wilkin posted the following:

"Wow! I found someone in california that rebuilds 164 boosters for $130
and rebuilds are done within 24 hours. Any volvo pre 75 that has the booster
on the firewall and then the master cylinder is $130. After 75 is $110.
Company name is Vanco #213-563-1588, I will be looking at $15 for shipping.
    Tim"

Don't know if this is still valid info, or if the area code has changed,
but it is worth a phone call or an internet search.

Also Booster Dewey in Portland, Or. If it has a single line of crimps around the center band, he can do a rebuild rather cheaply. If it has double crimps around the band, he says the parts are not available.
The double and single crimp boosters are interchangable on the car.

Thanks a lot, Shayne. I'll print this out and add it to my file.
Being out of the US and being in a relatively small town have similar
problems. (I could get a clutch rebuilt in Panama while I waited though -
getting to the place through the traffic was the hard part.)

Booster Dewey is a nice guy. He rebuilt the (single crimp) booster for my Mom's '69 145. He has a flyer that he may be able to send to you, it's cute; picture of him holding a big, shiny, black (truck?) booster....anyway...
          Best,
          shayne

Oh wait! Here is his only connection to the WWW. No e-mail etc.

For a non-Swede, looks like honest enough man. If he good enough for Shayne mom's car, well, he good enough for Olaf!
