Hi:

(1)- I've go a couple of questions concerning my M46 & OD. I've read that I must use a Type F Tranny Fluid. I also read people using Red Line Synthethic. I've got an Amsoil Distributor in my area. He has Synthethic Tranny Fluid, but does not classify it as Type F. Can I use it?

(2)- What's that heavy rectangular block, that's bolted to the underside of the Overdrive Tailshaft, used for?

The FAQ indicates that Amsoil Supershift Racing Transmission Fluid; product # ART can be used in these transmissions. I just ordered 3qts and will put it in mine soon.

2) Not all M46 trannys have that big block. In fact, the tranny I used to replace the one that broke in my car does not have that block. The broken tranny did. Someone told me it's for dampening sound or vibration or something to that effect.
