I Need an ECU...... any advice on who to check with? 200 1990

My 1990 240 DL has a serious ECU problem. It is a Bosch LH 2.4 Jetronic system. All of the tests run from the "Bentley Bible" make me lean towards the computer. Local resources for this item are not turning up anything usable for me. Could anyone offer any advice for me as to where to look or a good contact to obtain one? Just incase someone has one they want to sell, part number is :0 280 000 561. From what I've read here on the board these ECU's had a bad rep. My ECU did exactly what I read here in a previous thread. First problem was a loss of fuel pump ground. Now it is pumping so much fuel that it will actually put the engine into a "hydrostatic lock" condition. Any assistance that is provided will be greatly appreciated.

Joe

You may have two problems 200 1990

    JustJoe--

You wrote "Now it is pumping so much fuel that it will actually put the engine into a "hydrostatic lock" condition."

This doesn't sound like a computer problem. This sounds like a failed fuel pressure regulator (an extreme case).

Check the 700/900 FAQ for advice on troubleshooting this possibility from people who really know (I'm not an authority).

    Good luck.

    Joe,

I hate to do a shameless plug, but I recently put a "951" Bosch ECU up on eBay over the weekend. The 951 is an upgrade to the problematic 561 that you have (as well as the one I used to have). I tested it in my '89 244 and it works well.

Brian Leppin in Maryland, Brian@Volvousedparts.com, or 1-301-367-2244. Many brickboarders, including me, have used Brian for used parts. He is highly recommended.

I installed a "951" loaner from a Volvo mechanic/ friend of mine and it works great. The car hasn't ran this well since it was given to me.

Eric, thanks for the tip & I'll be watching your Ebay auction.

      Joe
