Italian Tune-up worked well 900

Tied the Italian tuneup on the weekend on my 95 960, made a noticeable difference inidle, acceleration, and jack rabbit starts. This involves shifting to L gear from stop, and running till you reach 4200-4500 rpm's, and continuting like thins for 5-7 minutes. It cleans the gunk of the valve stems and mating surfaces. Ran better immediately. Then I bought a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner. This is a great preventative maintenance tool for those interested.

I've heard the pros call it a 'load test' so as not to alarm the customers. Same thing, low range and 5000 rpm. Works on FWD cars as well.

The STP Premium treatment is real good, as is Techron from Chevron. To prevent this problem, use full-synthetic oil in a lighter grade such as 5-30 or 0-30. then give the car an Italian tuneup periodically for peace of mind.

Bought a 95 960 last summer, about 900 mi. from home. car ran rough so I droped her back a gear every once in awhile. Did this of and on for about 600mi. on the drive back. It took this many miles before she would run steady and clean continuously. DFW

Why is it hilarious? It is an FAQ on brickboard, and where I live, is recommended by Volvo mechanics with greater than 25 years experience.
