aftermarket driveshaft support 700 1987

Has anyone used/installed an aftermarket driveshaft centre support - the doughnut not the bearing - that is much larger than the factory original and is made entirely of rubber? Any installation tips or observations would be appreciated.

I think I know what you have! 700 1987

Well, I did check EEuroparts 1209820 and it appears to be the same as my old 245, I would guess that the bearing fits into a rubber recess and that open space has some lugs or recesses that were used to hold the small spring that centers or supports the bearing. The 245 I had used a metal cage that if memory serves me correctly bolted to the underbody. At any rate you have the wrong part, at least for typical USA 700 series. Get your money back!

Oops,I used a Scan-tech but it was not all rubber. I had problems with the fit and eventually had to go with the OE parts, it was a much more precision piece. I installed it without the use of a press. Be sure to replace the metal rock shields on either side of the bearing. The sealed brg still needs protection. I found out the hard way on some back roads in Arkansas!

Thanks for the reply, I guess not too many have come across this part. I have contacted eEuroparts but have not received a reply - too bad because I was impressed with their service, parts quality and price up until the point where I was going install that piece. It was very disappointing as I had to really struggle with rusted and difficult bolts to get the driveshaft out - 3 hours or so, only to put it back together with the same parts - oh well, it will be easier next time.

Ron
