Alternator Test Values?? 200 1982

Hello All,

Popped the apparent dead alternator off the GLT today, just wondering if anyone knows the correct test value ranges for the outputs (D+, regulator, etc) so I may determine if this one's a dead fish or can it be coaxed back to life agin.

Happy Bricking To All!!!

    Alternator Test Values?? 200 1982

Since the alt is already off, why not take it down to an auto parts store for testing. Most of them will perform the test for free. Also, the brushes should be longer than 5mm. Installed, B+ should have 12V (or whatever the battery has) with ingition off. D+ should have 12V with ingnition on. Engine running, turn on all the loads you can, rev the engine a bit and see if you have at least 12V. Hope this helps the specs are straight from Bently's
