Coil connections for 240's 200 1983

What a day!!! Just reconnected a rebuilt York A/C compressor on my 83 245 ( I had reversed the high and low pressure sides..did it like the original...rebuilt was switched). I knocked off some wires from the coil and thought I reconnected them correctly...NOPE...car fails to start. Current is getting to the spark plugs, fuel pumping to the injectors (floods).
Does anyone have a photo of the connections at the coil?
I've recently installed a Dave Barton wiring harness, but the car started great before messing with the wiring near the compressor.
Is it possible I installed the main pulley wrong also?
gracias,
el Raidman

Just saw that last question....... 200 1983

about installing the main pulley wrong.

By main pulley I assume you are referring to the split pulley on the crankshaft, right? Installing that one wrong is not hard to do, BTDT x 3 or 4.

It has always been, for me, a case of tightening the bolts/nuts in increments not small enough, so the pulley binds and feels like it's tight when it isn't. Then I started her up, and it wobbled and howled and would have screwed up the belt. Luckily I was suspicious and shut the engine down real quick. No damage except to ego. Had to re-do the split pulley thing all over again.

    Hope this helps.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

    El Raidman -

First off, about the a/c compressor. On my York-using Volvos, the low pressure side is the one nearest the fender. Is that how you have things hooked up? Unless the internal workings are reversed too, there could be a problem. Feeding high pressure into the low side of the system sounds to me like further damage. Are you dead rocks sure it's right?

Next, the coil connections. At the coil terminal #15 look for a blue or a brown wire. That's power in, either from Fuse #11 hot side, or from the ballast resistor, which your car may or may not have.

Terminal #1 gets a gray wire with a shield.

If you have a tachometer, there may be a white/red wire on one of the terminals. I think there's a double spade lug thing for the tach lead.

    Hope this helps.

    Good Luck,

    Bob
