Who cares about some spelling and grammar errors. We'll all here to gain and share knowledge about our Volvos.
I read this board religiously and I say Detailer is more than welcome to offer his "two bit" and I personally don't care how he spells it!

Who cares about spelling and grammer? His post was very hard to read with massive amounts of spelling errors. Is this what the schools are teaching? If so, why are we spending huge amounts of money of primary school education to produce this sort of drivel?

His questions as well as advice are always appreciated, as is any positive contribution to the board. However, if he's going to resort to offensive namecalling and personal attacks on other contributors here, most who have been on for a LONG TIME and probably helped dozens, if not hundreds of Volvo owners, who needs him?
I don't see any reason to make personal attacks regarding ANYTHING here. But when someone just out of the blue starts making crazed statements and calling people dorks, there needs to be an immediate and rational stop to it. Hopefully, everyone involved can act like adults. From now on, at least.
Otherwise, a useful technical forum degenerates to the level of a typical AOL chat room. Which in general, is pathetic.

there is a thread in the OPINIONS forum that I started regarding spelling, grammar, etc. It contains some very good statements about dyslexia and the way folks who have it cope with it, and what schools have/have not done about it.
It also contains statements about needs to communicate. You would do well to read that thread.

I agree that perhaps people went a little too far in making fun of you. But, consider this. This is a place where people read and write to communicate. If you're writing skills are lacking, it makes it hard for those who read your posts to understand you. It's kind of like a guy who can't shoot hoops going out to the neighborhood court and jumping into a game of 5 on 5. He's going to get made fun of beacuse he's out of his element. I think if you slowed down when you write and tried a little harder on spelling and punctuation, your posts would be more legible and you'd be more likely to be accepted here. Not attacking the regulars would help too.

Guys, Detailer was trying to be helpful and was attacked for it. Obviously, things got out of contol. This is a Volvo board -- we are passionate about our cars and normally debate issues with civility. And we all ain't perfect. Some of us are writers, some of us are mechanics, and some of us are detailers. I have a lot of respect for each of you and value your opinions. A time or two, I have posted an opinion about something and have effectively been called stupid, too. Maybe I was off-base, maybe not. I generally know what I am talking about, at least as a semi-mechanical, long term Volvo owner. I am not a technician, and I am in awe of the insights many of you post in response to some complicated situations. But, like Detailer and others, I just share my opinions in hopes someone might benefit.
Feelings have been hurt beyond repair. That is too bad, especially when it all began with an innocent question and a desire to be helpful. And, too, I am sure it would have been a kick to be the first one to identify "Art's nut." This is kinda a worldwide forum of the top Volvo folks, so I think making that identification here might feel kinda like winning some kind of marathon. That is said out of respect and with sincerity.
There really was not a good reason for any of this.
