164e R-sport gauge cluster circuit board repair? 140-160

Greetings, all. I have an R-sport gauge cluster that I purchased damaged -- a section of the cardboard backing for the circuit board had split off, breaking the circuit board with it. I had the broken piece.

Cleverly, I lost the broken section when I moved house last summer. Is there any way to get this fixed now, or is it an instant desk ornament? It looks like a simple enough job, but I know >zip about electronics.

By the way, this particular item is for my '75 164e (and it is a 164 version of the cluster), but I posted this to the 200 forum as well, as there are more of this style of cluster out there for the 200 series.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,As "dlot" said they are repairable.I have repaired several with success every time, some took more work than others though.I have also had success with cutting a part out of an identical board that was broken in a different place.(still bridging wires but if a critical piece is missing it can really help)I ADMIT it was probably not worth the extra effort but made for a cleaner repair and made some difficult repairs easier.I have a broken board right now and would be interested in where yours is broken.I may be able to help you out.

You'll have to make up a wiring harness to take the place of the circuit card.
The gauges are all pretty straight forward. They have ground, power and the
sensor depending on the gauge. The idiot lights use a shared power that usually
has a diode or two in the circuit to give you the startup light test. I don't
know how that gets wired but you can wire this setup. Get out a manual
if possible order from Volvo the wiring diagram book for your car. That will
help you know where all the on car connections are. Using an ohm meter you
can trace what circuit card part is left to figure out where the connections
    go. Wish you well.
