Brake rotors for 1992 740 Volvo Station Wagon 700 1992

I have a 1992 740 station wagon, non-turbo, automatic and front ABS. I have been told that I need front & rear rotors. I have scoured through messages and still am confused about the use of Volvo original vs aftermarket parts for rotors and pads?

What would be the best thing to do? From FCP Groton, I can get front rotors with girling calipers made by Zimmerman for $34 each and rear brake rotors made by ATE or zimmerman for $20 each. Compared to genuine Volvo rotors for front each at $59 each and rear at $35 each. (also sold by Groton). Is it worth it to spend an additional $85 for genuine Volvo parts. I don't mind spending additional money only if it is really that good. Also what pads and shoes would anuone recommend? Original or aftermarket?

Please help. One hell of a confused volvo owner.

Victor

If you are not runninf at Lemans and if you don't drive the hell out of the car. Go aftermarket.

Us average Joe's wont see the difference.

In my opinion the extra $$$ for genuine volvo brake parts are not worth it. I buy ATE rotors and PBR pads from fcpgroton and have always been pleased. Sometimes if I need rotors today (and can't wait for them to be shipped to me) I buy the cheapy generics from AutoZone and I've always been pleased with those too.

I'm changing the rear rotors/pads this weekend. IPD and rpr recommend pbr (axxis) deluxe pads and brembo rotors. ATE power disks (slotted) are available for the front rotors - a step up. The brembo rotors are available from fcpgroton even though they may not be listed on their website.

As always, just my $.02 .
