Turbo, 10W30 or 0W40? 900

I have been using Mobil1 10W30 from Costco at an honest price for my n/a.
Kinda thinking about Mobil1 0W40W I saw at Auto Zone, for not as honest a price, for the '95 244T. Any thoughts?

Work done so far to a fairly new, no history purchase:
>New T-Belt. The old one looked ok.
>New seals. Aux and cam seal were old and hard. The crank seal may have been replaced. Gray, soft and flexible.
>New acc belts, two looked good, one with cracks.
>Rebuilt distributor with John Sargent's help, well, from his post. This is not for the weak or faint of heart. It was leaking oil. The inner fiber washer was worn to sub paper thin and fell apart. J.S said that the fiber washers are not available.
>New valve hushers. This quieted the engine by 75%. (Use cam grease during reassembly.) The old hushers were very hard and flattened or worse. I would think that this is a feature used promote a new, quiet car. I can't see them lasting very long considering the heat and the numbers of cycles it goes through. BTW, the head and cam looked very clean.
>Check valve clearance. #1 .003" and .004" on the high side, intake and exhaust. All others on the upper limit at .016.
>New plugs and rotor.
>Rad looked very good. It had to have been replaced recently along with the hoses.
>Replacing vac hoses with fuel line hose and quick clamps. 3/16 ID fuel line hose seems to fit very well for all the smaller vac hoses.

Mobil1 AFT flush is next.

Upcoming, rear seal leak fix. This has to be easier than replacing the distributor seal!

I've been using M1 10W30 for years, now that M1 0W40 is finanlly available here, I plan to switch next change. In my minde it's the best of both world's, fast pump up at any temperature, and a 40 wt on the hot end. Seems hard to beat.

That was my thinking.
Here in NC It is 90+ in the summer and often 20s+- in the winter.

I'm in NYC so we have similar weather. Running 5w-30 or 10w-30 all year round on a 740 NA seems to be doing fine for myself.

Personally I would never use a 0w-40 unless it was fully synthetic as that's a 40 gap in weight. Even a 30 weight is kind of high for my own tastes.

the answer to your question regarding the oil you want to use really depends on the type of climate you are in.

0w-40 is a pretty wide gap though, and since the weather is warming up (at least here in nyc) i do not see the need for the 0w.
