Basic Ignition timing 700 1986

My 760 turbo must have a basic ignition timing of 12 degrees ...problem is I lost the page with the instructions to check basic setting. I remember something about shorting some connector to ground before using my timing light. Does anybody have it in writing from some manual !!!

Never heard of that myself. Haynes does not mention it. Make sure the idle is close or at spec, thats all. Timing does not usully change on its own unless something was done. I usually check after a timing belt change and that bout it.

Haynes does say that on the V6, the vacuum advance should be disconnected and plugged. No vacuum advance on the 4 bangers (not on mine, anyway).
