The IPD tool enabled you to remove the bushing without removing the output shaft housing on the rear of the transmission. It is not necessary to remove the transmission to remove the housing. There is a lot of information in the FAQ's about the procedure. The driveshaft and output flange need to come off and then the transmission crossmember and linkage are removed. You must support the transmission. I use a jack so I can let it drop down as much as possible to access the fastners on the housing. Clean the transmission tunnel and the transmission exterior surface so as not to allow dirt to enter once the housing is off. I take the housing and new bushing to my local automotive machine shop and let them do the R&R.

I have done four of these now and the worst part of the job has always been removing the old gasket. The last time I did not mess witht the gasket. I just added a small amount of RTV (so as not to squeeze out inside) and bolted it back together. It has not leaked a drop.
