Front End Knock 900 1995

Hi Bricksters,

My 960 makes a knock sound when backing up with steering wheel at full lock. It'll happen whether turned all the way right or left.

I heard of a Volvo bulletin where the subframe bolts needed to be torqued to proper specs to cure a similar problem. Has anyone heard of this?

Thanks.

    Dnice,
I have had similar knocks. Have your Front control arm Rear bushings checked that is most likely the culprit. They are the doughnut shaped bushing that connect the Front control arm to the underside of the car. They are held together by a bar that connects both sides to eachother.

      Hi Brandon,

      Thanks for your reply.

I've already had the both bushings replaced on both sides, along with ball joints and strut rod bushings 6 months ago.

I had the wheels aligned today at the dealer and he retorqued the subframe and suspension. The knock is still there but I think it's only on one side now. I'll have to tinker with it.
