Does my 1990 760 GLE have Girling or Bendix calipers/are they the same setup as a 740 GLE? 700

Hello folks!!!!

I have a brake question.

Does my 1990 760 GLE have girling and or Bendix calipers? Also are the front brake calipers just a general piston cup type, and are my rear calipers dual pistons? I have a 740 with girlings and the same above setup. Also my 760 has ABS, what difficulties and or special procedures might one have to do in order for the job to be done correctly? I have already purchased the brake pads (girling calipers) for both wheels. Many thanks!!!

    The type of brakes fitted, and much more is on your VIN number plate or service plate. The information on decoding this can be found

    here
    under the vehicle ID section.

    Your 1990 model probably has this 940/960 type of VIN plate fixed to the hood landing panel.


    If it does,(this is the plate from my 1990 740) you need to refer to the 940/960 page to translate it.

    If you pick up the IPD catalog, they have a pretty good picture which shows the three types of 740 calipers.... maybe you can find this on their website.
