Brakes 700

I am preparing to do a brake job on my newly acquired '90 740 gle (103,000 mi.). In shopping for pad sets I'm not sure if I have Bendix or Girling calipers. The Chiltons book does not even address the difference. Could anyone explain the difference so I can order the correct parts.

Also any other parts I should have on hand. The car was well cared for but the brakes are screeching (annoyingly). The previous owner said no matter who did the brake jobs they always eventually started screeching. The pad separator are almost worn down (i.e. 1 continuous segment of pad instead of 2) so there is still 'meat' left.

thx

See the FAQ for pictures. When you install new pads, use the Volvo Teflon shims or a liberal coating of anti-squeel paste on the backs.
