It's almost impossible to get good sound out of an older Volvo using stock speaker locations. If your map pockets are in as bad of shape as mine were, toss 'em and add 61/2s down there. Keep the rear speakers smaller so as to keep sound stage up front (you wouldn't enjoy a concert if it sounded like the band was playing behind you). Anyway, I've used a number of different speakers over time in different cars and I swear by the Infinitys, both reference and kappa series. The Kappa you'll need to amplify and the references you can get away with deck power. Barring what I've said above, put 4s in the front and rear doors and amplify them, infinty kappas will take more power then any other coax unless you go to a sperate. Then filter out the lows and add a subswoofer. You'll end up losing your mid bass but that probably the easiest way.
