1990 740 turbo dies without warning. 700

I have a 1990 740 turbo wagon, 207,000 miles. The car stalls without warning under normal driving conditions. I have replaced the fuel pump relay ($54), RPM sensor ($125), ignition module ($125), supressor relay($54) and nothing worked. Today replaced the inline fuel filter ($20). It was clogged so bad, I could barely blow through it. That has to have been the problem. I will drive it and keep my fingers crossed. Look at the money. ........... It does seem to drive smoother with the filter. The manual said to replace the filter every 100,000 miles. Neil.

Those are some pretty high prices. Try fcpgroton next time. The same fuel pump relay is $14 ...

BTW, the volvo service manual for my 89 says the fuel filter should be replaced every 60K. What manual said 100K?

the relays don't go bad. they get bad solder joints which can be resodered for very little. Before you spend 125.00 on ignition module you should probably take the time to diagnois the problem instead of just replaceing parts and then complaining that you spent to much money. 125.00 for rpm sensor- did you bother to check for pulse before replaceing? Since it is an input, was your tach working?
