guage hook up? 200 1991

Hey guys,

Snagged a oil pressure guage and a voltage gauge from a turbo. I even grabbed a couple of clock surrounds from other cars. These are shown as options in my owners manual. I am ready to go but... what do I hook up to? Will the oil pressure sensor I currently have work with a splice? Voltmeter, ground & connect to fuse box?

Thanks in advance, as always appreciated.

To install the sender you need a 1/8" 27 thread npt female to 14 mm 1.50 male adaptor.

For the voltmeter, yes, you just connect it to ground and power, but if you want the back light to work you need a connection somewhere to the dashboard lighting. Any circuit from the dimmer will work. I think they're brown wires... check them out. A tap-in connector will work ok for this.

The oil pressure gauge needs the sender that was on the turbo engine. All your engine has is a pressure switch. That won't do it. You need the correct sending unit to match the 3-bar or 5-bar gauge you've got. The two are different. If you can't go back and get the one from the turbo engine, try Ebay for gauges and parts, (search "Volvo 240") and try egauges.com as well. The dealer can probably get it for you as well.

The one from the turbo won't work without adapters. The thread is different betwen the B21 and B23 blocks.
