I still follow the advice I got at a shop decades ago, back when "recorded music" meant vinyl. I kept one of those spray bottles with anti-static fluid we used to fight the Dust Problem, and every now and then use it on the seats. It's easy to tell when the effect has worn off. Don't know if the product is still available.

I suppose one could wear a wrist strap... Sometimes static buildup can be increased by what you wear, stay away from synthetics - no more polyester leisure suits! ;-)

It is the shock of reality you get when you step into the real world from the nirvana of the Volvoworld.

That's static electricity and has nothing to do with your sound system. It usually happens when the weather is very dry. Years ago, people used to place grounding straps on their cars which would drag on the ground and discharge the static electricity. I remember big gasoline tankers even having a dragging chain for this. I don't recall what we did with the covered wagons and oxen. I had forgotten this 'til your message. It's harmless. I suppose you could roll the window down, wait until someone passes by, and then reach out and zap them.

Its static. Mine does it too. All I do is take my key and touch something metal on the car before I myself touch something metal with my finger. Discharges the zap.
