Generic AC maintenance question 700

When replacing a compressor should the drier (accumulator?) be replaced also? I will have the system evacuated by a shop.

To expand on Steve's post. Check the orifice tube for any debris blocking the filter screen. If you find debris you must flush the condensor and a/c lines or the new compressor will be ruined in a short time. John

Yes. The cost of a new dryer is only about $35. By so doing, you will remove moisture and contaminants from the system. If your compressor failed (as opposed to leaked), then you have junk strewn throughout the system and it is mandatory that the dryer be replaced. If it leaked, then you've likely got moisture in there and it still needs to be replaced.
