What does a low compressing mean? :( 200

Hi,
I have a 1985 245 turbo that has been having some cold starting and acceleration problems. When the engine is cold the car is hard to start and it won't accelerate quickly. When the car warms up the car runs fine and accelerates good. I decided to run a compression test and all but the front cylinder got 9 bars. The front got 8 bars. This cylinder also goes through spark plugs quickly. What could be wrong with my engine. Can it be a bad head gasket? Thanks :(

Doesn't sound like compression problem. It's a fuel delivery problem. When your engine is cold it needs a slightly richer fuel mix to run smoothly until operating temp is reached. Basically you are running lean at startup. That's why you are having problems. Unfortunately, I don't know how to adjust for fuel injection. Carbs are easy.

low compression is when the piston travels upward it squashes the fuel/air charge useualy when a engine has low com. its the piston rings worn and the charge is forced down passed the piston rings. This shows up as a fuel smell in the oil.Or the valves not sealing (valve seals)or(valve seats) I suppose the head gasket could be worn but this usualy shows up as loss of water from radiator or shows up on plug as a large lump of white crust some head gaskets leak very little water when worn and not blown so it could take months to see a low radiater. Some difference in compression is normal from one cyl to another in same engine.Hope this helps if i missed anything anyone reply as im not a mach.
