hot restart in '93 245 200

I have an intermittent problem with engine of 1993 240 GL not restarting when hot, after 20-30 minutes driving. The fuel pump runs and and lights work but there is no cranking. If left for an 45-60 minutes it will start no problem and will run fine. Ideas?

Yes you can buy a solenoid seperately. BUT!! On my '79 it is an issue of increased resistance in the wiring somewhere. I now carry a big screwdriver with a burnt off end. Jump between the big wire and one (you will learn which) of the small wires.

    Hello,

I guess what you are trying to say is that it won't crank hot. Sounds like the starter motor solenoid not taking the heat too well. Reach down there with a big old socket wrench or other large solid implement and give the little round thingy on the top of the starter a whack or two then try it. Whatever you do, don't knock the wires off so whack carefully. If that's what it is, I am not sure if you can buy a new solenoid separate from a starter.
