You would very quickly blow up your engine.

Actually, maybe not. There are people who have added a turbo to their naturally aspirated red-block car, and they have not blown up their engine. If you want to be a virtual spectator of somebody else's risky project, check this link, where the owner added a turbo and intercooler to his 1983 245 DL with B23 engine:

That's An Interesting Question... 700 1985

I know the compression is lower on the turbo models, but I don't know how that lower compression is achieved.

John is correct.

But I'm left wondering...what is a B238FT? Are you overseas? I ask because, in the North American market, the 760 turbo (and 740/780 turbo) sports a B230FT.

Volvo never made a B238FT, that would be a 2.3 litre turbo charged 4 cylinder engine with 8 valves per cylinder... they did make a B204GT which is a merger of the B200FT and the B204F and these also came as 2.3 litre (B234GT).

The B230F engine has no provision for supplying oil to the turbo, and no hole for the turbo oil drain tube to fit into the block.

That means no, unless you want to do a lot of work arounds.
