Expansion valve doohickeys/ general confusion 200 1984

Installed a new valve as part of my R134 conversion saga. Forgot to notice before I took the old valve out, so:

-- Does the pig-tail/curlicue thing on the valve clip on half-way up the evaporator core?

-- Does that wire probe-looking number attach to the lower evaporator pipe?

Or do I have that backward?

Also, on disassembly, the low-pressure hose at the compressor lacked an o-ring, so I put one in -- on the advice of the shop that sold me the Volvo kit. Then, I came up one big o-ring short when attaching the evaporator to the hose under the dash. Hmmmm.

Enlightenment?

I just did conversion on 88 245, The curly part clips to evaporator to sense temperature I believe. The other end with probe looks like it senses pressure and goes into big pipe coming out of evaporator. I dont know about O-ring sense the kit I had had many extras. My system cools at just under 40 degrees but my low side hose was not tight when putting in gas. I am going to get another can and see if I can get it a little lower. Good luck on yours.

Joe
