760 Seats for a 740 - What! 16 connections? 700

My apologies if this is covered in the FAQ, but, in my haste (read: anxiety) I didn't find the info. I just bought a set of 1990 760 seats, leather, heat, power, etc. for my (yet to be picked up) 90 744T. The car doesn't have power seats and the person at the yard said there are 12 or 16 connections. I won't have a problem getting fused power to the seats, but I do have a few questions.

Are the seats a "simple" switch onto the existing tracks, and, is a single power supply enough to the switch pads, or do the switches complete the various grounds for separate motors and each must be powered? Any additional info will be appreciated. Thanks . . .

For each seat, you need to wire two power feeds and one ground, that is it. It is dead easy, done it myself and works no problem. The switch cluster feeds each motor with power and ground, you only have three wires to each seat. The seat will bolt on directly. Provided that the multiplugs for heating and seat belt warner and buckle light are the same, this should take you no more than 2 hours, tops! Reomve the centre consol first, makes removing the seat easier.

      760 Seats for a 740 - Thanks 700

Thanks George, that's what I wanted to hear. I got them both for $150US, (from a yard on Long Island) including all the controls. Now, If I can just figure how to get them both in a 744 without damaging the seats or the car . . .

Move seat forward and tilt seat back as much forward as you can, unbolt the four seat bolts, grab hold of seat front and rear (hence moving the seat forward because then you can fit your arm through gap between seat and B pillar), push seat and track backwards and then towards centre. Lift straight up. Most likely, it won't come out easily then but jiggle and jiggle and it will pop out. You can see the two locking brackets on the bottom of your 760 seats so you understand how it works. Then jiggle seat out, try to turn it 90 degrees so that it faces the door opening, then slide it out in a circular movement moving the seat back underneath the steering wheel. Remove carpet and run power feeds (make sure the breaker gives you some of the harness so that you can you "plug and play") and then fit the new seat.
