power antennae almost fixed.

Here's the problem, I've put the new antennae in and it won't go down all the way. It remains extended about 8". I believe a broken piece of the old plastic track remains in the motor, reducing the capacity of the retract. The new antennae does go up all the way.

The motor looks sealed. Any ideas on a fix? Tempting to cut the new plastic track by 8", but once she's cut I'm screwed if it still doesn't work. New antennae was $53.Canadian.

Thanks for the help.
Mike

p.s. - beware the carwash! duh.

It's not hard to get the motor open- one nut in the center of the case with some loctite on it I beleive. The case is just a shell around the drive nut that gives the antenna plastic mast a place to curl up. You would find out immediately if there's a piece stuck in there. Should be pretty straightforward to open it up and see. You don't take apart the motor per se, just the winder gear housing.
It usually takes a few tries to get it to go in all the way. That's why the motor runs a few seconds longer at each end of the travel.
