I have a 1992 740 Turbo wagon. The roof opens just fine when I press the switch, but it doesn't close readily. When I push the switch, the roof starts to close, but after moving a few inches, it stops. From there, it will not close any further, but it will re-open from there without a problem, and again, and again, and again, when I go to close it it will only come forward a few inches. After what seems like thirty or forty atttempts to close the roof, and with me pulling on the front edge to help it get started, it will eventually close fully. Is this caused by a bad switch? A bad relay? If it is a bad relay, can anyone tell me how to identify it among those in the dashboard cluster?
Thanks
Tom

If you give up trying to fix the electrical problem, here's a mechanical fix - get a hand crank at a salvage yard. Works better, faster, and more reliable.
Sell your motor on ebay.

Dude, I totally agree with the inapplicable responses thing... What's the deal with that anyway?
Is it just that when we have a problem we don't describe it fully? Or the person responding hasn't read our description fully or what?
I can't actually help you with your problem, but yeah, I would say replace the relay... sounds good.

Reminds me of the kid in the Sunday School class asked what has a bushy
tail, climbs trees and gathers nuts in the fall. He said,
"Gee it really sounds like a squirrel but I know that the answer has to
be 'Jesus'!"

It's the switch. Relay is in the switch. Common failure. Get a new one. WOuldn't hurt to use a graphite lube on the roof tracks.
Lots about this in the FAQ.

Well, I make mine with 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup of shortening or margarine, 2 1/2 cups of flour (the UNPROCESSED stuff), and 2 tbsp vegetable oil.
You can also add 1/4 cup of raisins and/or chopped walnuts if you like.

Sounds pretty good. How long do you bake them?
I imagine they are pretty hard to store in \Temporary Internet Files\.
(but probably easier than 8x10 glossy photographs)

Me too. 'mong other things I'd like to see Volvogirl and her shop.
She's been a real inspiration to me.
Don't plan to go between August and June though. I have this thing about
cold weather.
And how is Aunt Lucie?

Spring...ah yes spring.I do so look forward to it.
Aunt Lucie is doing ok but hasn't been her self since uncle Mark ran off that Hooters waitress.I think any contact these days really helps her get through the day,you should give her a call.
I think we're headed down for the bull fighting at christmas provided Pablo can get the time off.Being christmas and all the elves are busy.We should have room you still in the commune as long as you don't tell Delores. We couldn't put up with her for another minute on that bungee jumping trip last year.
As far as the pink and green goes it should look ok as long as the pink isn't too bright and you keep the border narrow.

I believe I'd better skip that one because I have been fighting bull ever
since I got back to the USA 5 years ago. I suspect that Myrtle would also
tell Delores if I went and she has deep feelings for male bovines.
I can't wear pink (at least not since the mid-50s) without a lot of green
to balance it. Avocados are nice, especially if you have enough cilantro
to go with them and just a touch of finely chopped jalapeño and a little
limón. Served up on a nice pink plate, of course. Trimmed in lace.
BTW is that thing really a cookie tray? I though it was a cup holder!
I tried to burn some CDs but they mostly melted and made a LOT of smoke!
Not suffering with a mental condition, more like enjoying it!!

I don't remeber where I got that thing.I think it was Brazil in the 70's.Pretty tacky huh?! I was suppose to ship it back to Michigan and might some day.
I'm glad you mentioned the Avocado dish.Thats the one I was trying to describe to Randall at that toga/accordian thing you drug me too.(Jeez free tickets or not I don't know If I'm for THAT one next year).
I contacted the astrologer you recommended and he said we could use the solution on the dog as long as we watered it down CONSIDERABLY.After what happened to Raggs on that fishing trip I don't think I'm ready to try it alone.
You said you were going to send the address for the panda chatroom.I don't mean to pester you but I'm headed back up "north" soon and would like to get the other innertubes before I depart.
Hope all is well there,Kiss the alpacas for me.
