Oil Filters

I've been using Mann oil filters, but buying and shipping cross-country from IPD gets expensive.

Would like to have knowledge advice on oil filters.

My garage recommends another brand with internal check valve.

I change religiously at 3,000 miles, drive about 30,000 mi per year.

Thanks

In a pinch, you can use Motorcraft FL-300S or if you got the clearance, FL-1A. Same as a Puralator Pure One inside ... synthetic media and spring loaded bpass.

Another excellent brand is Wix, avilable at many "real" auto parts stores, but they ain't cheap, either.

Call mann directly and find a local distributor. We did, and found someone in our city who lets us buy wholesale - we pay about $7.50ea for our 95 960 filters. We have also used Bosch 72138, Mann W917, and Beck 48145(oem volvo filters)

You can get the Mann filters for somewhat less, and less shipping from FCP Groton, in Connecticut. They sell the case lots for $33 or so.

Well, where are you? Maybe there's a local Mann supplier.

I get mine from www.swedishengineering.com

$3.49 each when purchased in flats of 10. That'll last you a year. Locations in Ann Arbor MI and Atlanta GA.

If you have a Turbo car, I would stick with Mann. After all, $4.99 plus shipping is much cheaper than a turbo. I'm no expert, however, but as long as there is a check valve and you change oil regularly, I'd think that you'd be ok.
Just my $.02 worth...

Best...
