Intermediate Shaft Seal 200

I see references to the intermediate shaft seal. Does this seal fit around the sprocket which drives the distributor, or does it go around the crank? The drawings are deceiving.

Intermediate Shaft Seal 200

Yes, it's behind the timing belt sprocket for the distributor/oil pump drive, that is, the gear in the lower timing cover.
The cam and intermediate shaft seal are the same part number.
It's always a good idea to replace these seals plus the crank seal at the same time as changing the timing belt.
If you change the valve cover gasket at the same time it can make it a lot easier to get the cam seal out (it tends to disappear into its bore, making removal difficult without a small pick).

You have three seals on the front of your engine. The one for the cam and the intermediate shaft are the same size while the one for the crank is larger. The cogged gears on all the shafts have to be removed to access the seals.

In reference to your other post concerning the rear cam seal. 240's do not have rear cam seals- just the one on the front.
