High pitched sound from fan 900 1995

Recently my 1995 960 wagon has begun making a whining sound from the small fan under the front passenger side dashboard. Has anyone had this problem and if so can I fix it. I thought about trying to spray it with some WD40 but thought I would ask here first. Thanks, Brad

Bearings are going. They're sealed. Replace the blower motor.

Most likely it's the bearing, but without actually hearing the sound, could it possibly be something stuck up in there? These fans create a strong vacuum when first turned on. Plastic bags and other such things have found their way up into the housing. Might be worth a poke around before you change out the motor.
