sticking brake light switch 200 1987

I tried to free it up with some PB Blaster but it still sticks sometimes.I think it's adjusted properly because it works when I let the button out(pedal depressed)with my finger.
My question is,can I take it off and fix it or just get another from the boneyard?

If the brake lights tun off and on every time when operating with your finger does'nt that mean the switch is good? Switch should transfer when pedal first starts to move before braking starts. What exactly are the lights doing?

I believe some model years have 2 switches sensing brake pedal depression, the other is for cruise control.

Hmmmm, said he, contemplating the Volvo Part Number book. Brake light switch, Models 140, 160, 240, 260, 740, 760, 780, 940, 960 all same part number up to 1994, when something changed.

There oughta be a large number of them in the breakers, get a few. One's bound to be OK, and you'll have spares, too. Check an on-line parts seller to have an idea of the price before negotiating with the breakers guys.

Good Luck,

Bob
