Aftermarket parts?!? 200

Got the “new” B230 engine onto my new engine stand. I need to order the parts to fix up-timing belt, water pump, seals, etc. Should I use FCP Groton? They seem cheap, but I seem to remember reading about scan-tech products not being good enough. Some would say to use dealer supplied items of course. But I shudder to think about their prices! Also a lot of “Volvo” parts are made by aftermarket suppliers anyway. Whaddya think?

TIA, Mark

fcp groton has treated me pretty well. My only 'disasters' with them have related to ill-fitting and non-performing tail lenses/circuit boards for lamp assemblies. I've heard from many people that you really need to get used or OEM there to avoid problems...you'd think suppliers like fcpgroton would warn folks about this, as they risk losing customers...ah well...in retailing one needs a bit of 'larceny in their heart, don't they?...good luck - dee Jay

    It depends.

Some Groton stuff is funky other stuff is pure OEM.

If you shop a bit you can get stuff for the lowest....but ask WHO makes it. For that reason I don't like the web only order places.

I like IPD for their specialties and TOP NOTCH customer service.

    Breadman,
I agree with dlot; and, I will add that other companies, IPD for instance, sell the same stuff as FCP for twice as much. So, in the end, it depends on what part you are ordering. I prefer to use Volvo gaskets in lue of aftermarket just because I've recieved some crappy fits. Other stuff like belts, waterpumps, oxygen sensors, etc... is subjective. Peace, Jon

I have used fcp groton mulitple times with no issues, great prices.
I guess though it depends what you buy. They DO have a refund policy in case of defects.

I use FCP Groton. I also use newandusedvolvoparts.com. You can have FCP Groton
get you other brands if you don't want scan-tech. I had them get me the
SKF bearing kits because of my negative experience with the scan-tech bearing
kit. Still would be much cheaper than the dealer and SKF is the OEM for
    wheel bearings.
