Turbo Boost Gauge vacuum hose connection - Where? 700

Hello, '89 740 Turbo.

I removed the instrument cluster to repair an intermittent speedo, which was succesful. But when I removed the cluster, the Turbo Boost Gauge had a hose hanging from it, about 12" long, and I can't find where the other end goes. Any suggestions for me?

Thanks so much!

Your car has a Charge Overpressure Switch which mounts alonside the EZK (ignition computer). The EZK us mounted on the right hand side the the support bracket for the brake/clutch pedal assembly. It will also have a rubber line connected to it. This line connects to a plastic tee fitting. One nipple of the tee fitting needs to have the line from the boost gauge connected to it.

If you can't find it, reply, and I will attach a picture to the next post.

    roscoe,

the hose goes through the firewall and over to a nipple on the intake manifold. should go through on the driver's side of the car near the strut tower. if i remember correctly it is above the cruise control vacuum hose. may need to get a helper to jiggle the hose back and forth while you have your hand in the dash to feel for the movement.

    good luck

My 87 760t has a vacuum hose behind the cluster/dash that has a T in the middle that hooks up to what you have hanging from your cluster there. My only suggestion is to dig around back there from the top and from underneath to find the hose. Start the car and listen for the hissing sound. This is assuming the 87 and the 90 are similar behind the instrument cluster. BTW how did you fix your speedo, because I'm having problems with all my gauges. Was it the cluster or the sender? HTH

Chuck - Somewhere on this board I found instructions for troubleshooting the Speedometer, and I followed those instructions. I first checked the sending wire at the differential as suggested in those instructions. Sorry I don't remember where they were from. It turned out to be a bad connection at the back of the speedo, where someone had broken a screw and soldered the wire to the screw. The solder didn't hold, so I got the screw out with an easy out and put in a new screw.

Yeah, I can hear the hissing but it's tight back in there and I just haven't been able to find it. I even held a smoking matchstick in there hoping the vacuum would suck it up and I would get a clue, but no luck.
