Broken 1993 850 headlight quandry; $300 for assembly?

Brickers,

Soemone backed into my friend's diver's side head light on his 1993 850 and broke the lense. The rest of the assembly seems fine.

He said the guy at the parts store said he could not purchase the lense only and would have to purchase the entire assembly at a price of $300.

Does this seem fair? It looks to me like the lense could be replaced without replacing the assembly as it has what appear to be clips holding it onto the rest of the assembly.

Any advice? Any supply sources?
