Brake Pad Success 200 1991

Easy job to replace brake pads on all four wheels. You don't even take off the calipers like on most cars.

I had it done very quickly, and moved on to fix the hissing sound from the center console. It happened when you shut off the car.

One way valve coming out of intake was not functioning. Filled it with PB Blaster and got it working. No hiss! What was going on there?

Now, the next issue is that the heat/cool adjustment won't work, it always heats. What are the common problems there?

Forgot to mention this idea. Chuck up the pad retaining pins in your drill (best bet is a drill press, or clamp down the drill) and rotate them at high RPM. Clean up by holding fine emory paper against them as they spin. They'll look good and be ready for a light coat of high temp grease.

Heater control valves go bad (thermostat). Replacing it is not hard once you get the hoses off. There is a guy on Ebay who sells the original volvo replacements and I purchased one for about $25.

I think sdol is talking about Foreign Car Parts of Groton. They have the original (read easier to replace than with the updated style). It does sound like your heater control valve - I need to do mine. Try adjusting you cables first though...
