#3 No spark 1800 1973

I am in a quandry. Car runs strong just not on all 4 cylinders. I have switched plugs, wires even distributors. The only thing I didn't have around to try was a distributor cap. Is this what I need?

As always thoughts appreciated.

Bad;

That would seem to be the next thing to check...before replacing, remove from distrib and check outer and inner surfaces for contamination and/or discharge paths...clean with detergent, dry reassemble and try again.

Occasional cleaning of dist cap is good practice. The central brush which rubs on the rotor does get slowly worn away, and the carbon dust which it makes, gets all over inside of cap, promotes condensation, and can lead to discharge paths other than out the individual cylinder wires.

Good hunting

Bad;

The injector firing or NOT will not determine if you get spark or not...that is strictly determined by the ignition system ...if what you meant is that it is not igniting the mixture to make a power stroke, then you need to word your problem explanation more accurately.

Cheers
