Hi all, hopefully someone has some suggestions to my problem...
My front right wheel has a terrible time vibrating / making noise at certain speeds. The problem seemed to develop after I curbed the right front wheel fairly bad, but I can't be sure they are related.
The problem, when it is happening, is terrible. At certain speeds it is worse, but it has gotten to the point now where it almost always happens at speeds above 55 mph. It is especially pronounced when I am loading the wheel up in a left hand turn (very slight turn) At times it just seems like an out of balance wheel, but sometimes (and quite a bit more lately) it sounds like someone is taking a jackhammer to my control arm or something.
Recent work: New ball joints, struts, control arm bushings, tie rod ends, sway bar, sway bar bushings. This was all done about 10k miles ago.
I have tried to address the problem a little bit: three different tires/rims on that corner of the car, the problem is more or less unaffected. new sway bar end link bushing (it was worn, would clunk etc.) but this only seemed to marginally help the problem. Brief visual inspection. I grabbed the wheel (car jacked up) and tugged on it, moved it around side to side, etc. No obvious wheel bearing problems.
SO, does anyone have any suggestions?
The strut mounts are *not* new, and the wheel bearings are not new. Everything else(including rotor, pads, front end parts) is new as of 10k [highway] miles ago.
I'm going to pull it apart tomorrow, and I'm afraid I won't find anything yet again.
Thanks
-Steve
