oil leaks...and other bad news...anyone got any thoughts... 900

ok, so it de oiled the engine bay and uunderside today AGAIN.... to try and work out where im loosing oil...when i say loosing its akin to a 2-stroke!...

the majour loss is from the turbo oil return pipe where it enters the sump...guess its back to the guys that did the new turbo a month ago....

the weird leak is on the front of the block, kinda the oil APPEARS to be comming out fro mthe top water pump mounting bolt, i.e actually emerging from the bolt hole and making its way behind the nut?????..now the only two sources I can imagine are the cam oil seal and the CH gasket..if it was from the cam I find it hard to see how it gets there without being visible...anyone seen this before or got other ideas...

to explain i degresed with a wash gun, degreaser and 60lbs presure so its really clean!

my alarm/remote locking also blew up today..like FRIED...grr not my day!...

The front is likely the cam oil seal. Changing all three is not that big a deal, but is best done when you do the timing belt. They seem to die around 150k miles or less. Check the valve cover gasket as well: you may need to retorque the nuts.

On the bottom rear, I have found that oil leaks are a little tough to trace. The oil is blown around by the fan and slipstream. Look at the turbo oil return line seal and the oil filter o-rings. These are all easy to change too.

My kid's 940 was leaking oil beneath; it finally took some UV dye to trace it to the rear main seal. Bummer.

      thanks steve,

the bottom leak is for definate the turbo oil return line...so thats going back to the shop that fitted the new turbo...

the top one...well i'm all for it being a cam seal, but i just cant work out how the oil would get behind the water pump housing then emerge thru the mounting hole round the stud and out from behind the nut withug being obvious anywhere else..beats me...

as i say i had degreased the engine to the point you could literally eat your dinner off it...

the only possible i have for this one is that what im seeing is actually old oil and de-greaser in around the stud finding its way out as the engine heats up and the real leak round the cam isnt evident yet (i.e. not so bad and oil still behind the cambelt cover, not trickled down thefront of the block yet) I only did about 10 miles after de-greasing the engine....
