Distributor Rotor 200 1987

When I ordered a distributor for my 240 from IPD I got one that was for a smaller shaft size than the one I needed. It was a Bosch 04 170. Turns out that my car takes a # 04 138 that is for the bigger shaft. The ignition is not Chrysler. Everyone I have spoken with says that this distibutor( big shaft) is from an older model. I bought the car new in 1987 and the distibutor has never been changed.

All explanations will be appreciated.

BTW ,IPD guy said to order the rotor listed for the1983-1984 model years.

I had the same problem when I ordered one for my 1985 B230F. The only thing I could figure out was that the B23 had the larger shaft distributor. Volvo must have had some leftover stock that they used or used sparingly. Just continue to order the one for an 1983-1985 (B23).
