Real Sheepskin vs. Imitation 200

I found some imitation sheepskin seat covers. They look and feel nice and they are non-shedding. Anyone recommend one over the other? The imitation are about half of the price...and vegetarian-approved.

Thanks,

Julie

I've had the real and the fake. Go with the real if you can live with it, they are far superior.
Check out this link. I've not used them yet, but the "seconds" are $29.99 I think. Sam's sells some as well.
    No affiliation, etc.
    Good pluck.

If you can afford them, get the real thing. They will probably outlast your car.

Julie: Phooey on those guys! I've had the same set of REAL hides in my 1979 MGB since it was new. They wear like iron, keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and they've not lost one hair, nor have they smashed down like the imitation ones I've seen. As an added bonus, they just look cooler than the fakes....and don't let anyone tell you that you can't tell by looking. Hell, Ray Charles could spot the imitations from the real after about 3 months. Part with the extra cash and get the real ones. You won't be ashamed to transfer them to your next car, eventually.

    Hey Julie,

Given my experience with sheepskin rugs in the house and sheepskin seat covers in aircraft, go for the PETA-freindly fakies. God I felt like crap when I almost hit that wild turkey last weekend....

Umm.. I thought wild turkeys weren't all that big? Oh well.. just be thankful you don't have any pea fowl where you live. Those are some insane birds.

At least you didn't hit a sheep or two. ;-)

What experiences? Please tell. If PETA (the ones who think they own that acronym, not the much funnier "People for the Eating of Tasty Animals") approves of something I tend to be very leary.

As for hitting that turkey, would it've damaged the vehicle? What size/weight is a wild turkey anyway? We don't have them around here. If it doesn't damage the vehicle, who cares? No animal strikes for over 4 years, and then 2 (a cat and a duck) last month. My personal motto: If it's small enough not to damage the car I'm not going to do any emergency maneuvers. If I can brake or evade normally I do, if not then roadkill it is.

As for sheepskin in the house, it dries out, the fibres fall out and they stink from people's feet. As for sheepskin in the planes, they stink from having students sweat in them while their instructors scare the crap out of them ;-)~

As for the turkey, it was a fully grown male version of the species who cleared the roof of my 245 by about half a meter. He would have at least taken out the grille, put a nice dent in the hood, maybe cracked the windsheild, and perhaps made heck of a good meal.

        Richard.
