Bulb out light on dash on 900

Anyone know why this is? It used to flicker on and off, found a dodgy numberplate light that then packed up. Replaced/overhauled both numberplate lights and all front lights. Every bulb on exterior of car works perfectly now and very bright, but still the orange 'bulb' light is lit up continously. I have had the battery disconnected for 24 hours (lost my volvo radio code - anyone help?) if that means anything, obviously I had the problem before hand but I thought it was just the numberplate light (now fixed).

Also I want to disable the daytime running lights, anyone got a quick workaround? Also anyone know the location of the dim-dip/running headlamp resistor pack?

Cheers, Greg

Radio code, call up or visit a Volvo dealer and they can give you the code which is based on the last 5 or 6 numbers of the 17 digit VIN number. Write down somewhere in your OM.

I had that bulb out light on for a week until I figured out it was the third brake light. I have had problems in the past and was able to fix it by switching around lamps or replacing. The relay has a series of double wound coils that cancel each other out when the lamp amps are equal. Sometimes the lamps have to match in manuf and age to get an equal coil load. If just replacing the lamps don't work try resoldering the relay (check the FAQ) or replace it. I personally like it's functionality. It's challenge keeping this stuff all working. I still can't figure how the BO indicator determined that the 3rd break light was out, introducing a third coil winding

Running lights: As far as I'm concerned it's almost as important as air bags or seat belts. I have noticed a big difference in my daily drive with DRL. Before DRL, every week or two a car used to stop at the last second pulling out from a driveway or intersection because they didn't notice me, like I was stealth. One didn't stop but saw me before it was too late due to the DRL. We both swerved and managed to avoid each other. It would have been my front end into their side, likely injuries in the other car. This has slowed down quite a bit with DRL. I have convinced the wife and my kids without DRL to switch on the lights.
    Cheers

Some 960's have a small screwdriver slotted screwhead next to the headlight switch that can be turned to disable the daytime light feature. Resistor pack for high/low beams??? Do you mean reostat for dash lights?

Bulb out indicator does not come on for licence plate lights. It does come on for burned headlights, running/parking lights, brake lights. It can come on if you have "unbalanced" headlights. This could be because you have two different brands installed which draw different current. The bulb out relay sensor module could also be bad.

The DRL has a fuse, pull and they are gone.

The resistor pack makes the headlight half intensity when engine is on but the lights are off - or that's what mine does. If I take it out then I won't have the headlights running with the ignition on, I'm capable of switching the lights on when I drive myself. Anyone know where it is? Also where is that slotted screwdriver bit to turn it all off? As for the fuse - where is the fuse box and where is it??? I am still awaiting the manual!
