Stalling when wet outside 900

My son said his '92 940 GL stalls while driving when the car is cold and damp outside. He pulls over and it starts right up. It is Ok when it warms up & does not happen when it is dry outside. I have replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, O2 sensor, flame trap, timing belt, fuel & gas filters with Bosch. Maybe Coolant sensor? Is there an inherited problem that I am missing?

After reading some of your replys, Thanks...I did notice that under the dist. cap there was a little oil. First, is that just a o-ring to fix or a new dist. Second, can this cause the problem, is the Hall sensor in there on a '92 940 8cyl?

A year ago I had a non-start problem with our '90 744 Turbo. It was the connector to the power stage. The repair consisted of cleaning the contacts, applying dielectric grease, and installing a zip-tie across the plug.

When I asked about the advisability of doing the same to some of the other connectors, the service writer said wait a minute... he went out into the shop and came back with a tube of Volvo dielectric grease and said "enjoy yourself"

He drives an '89 745 Turbo.

Well I have found some pretty simple things to cause weird problems like that check the AMM wireing for corrosion aswell as the small wires on the coil and powerstage It is also a possible fuel pump relay problem. Unless the crank sensor is failing but it should stop and not start I would think well good luck

I know where the coil is, where is the powerstage, does a '92 940 GL have one?

Its inside left fender beside air box and is mounted to allum. block its kinda square and about 1"x3" and should end with 124 as part number never run with powerstage unbolted it will melt it uses the alum. and fender as heatsinks.
