174 V-6 200

Can anyone tell me about the 174 Cu in V-6?
I have one sitting in a parts car in San Antonio.
It's all there (As far as I can tell)including an automatic transmission.
Anybody need one?
I have no idea if it runs. It's "For parts".

Thanks for the input.
I had a feeling it was obscure for a reason.

I hear they make great anchors for mooring buoys for boats.

I'm assuming your car is a 264 or 265 Volvo?

If I remember correctly, the PRV-6 engine was a joint venture between Peugeot, Renaut, and Volvo to make a 6 cylinder engine for world wide use that would meet various industry standards. (thus the name, the first letter of each of the manufacturers and the 6 designating that it had 6 cylinders, PRV-6).

This is also the same engine that can be found in a Delorian. (Do you remember the car that Marty McFly drove in Back To The Future?) The engines are of decent quality, assuming you drive like a European. They don't last nearly as long under driving conditions imposed by 'American' drivers. The blocks and heads are all aluminum and I'll leave the rest of the evaluation to a professional that's actually worked on one...

These are kind of rare around here (Michigan) and not many are found in junk yards (I personally have only seen 1 of them), and even fewer are found on the roads. I have yet to see a driveable one in Michigan since I acquired my 240 Volvo last year. You might be able to sell it on eBay since I'm sure that there's a die-hard 264 nut out there who's hurting for parts.

Good luck and God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.

AAAACCCKKK!!!

Not the dreaded PRV V6 loathed by most bricksters. One of those engines is a risky proposition even when it's running. Most are replaced by a more forgiving 4-cyl version for peace and long life.

I wouldn't have a clue where you would get rid of one of those besides a smelter.
