I have 2 catalogs, one from Hawk and one from Porterfield, that lists many types of cars and pads they take. For the ATE calipers the FMSI # is 736 D031. For Girling the # is 765 D044. This is for both the 160 and 140 rear pads. You should get these catalogs for future reference. They also have an extensive section in the back with pad dimensions in case your car is not already listed.

BTW, the FMSI numbers are standars across manufactures.

On the IPd website they use the same rotors and the same pads. On the TIRERACK website, from 72on, they have EBC green and redstuff brake pads for the 164. They don't have anything listed for the earlier 164s though... And they don't have any pads listed for any 140s... What does this all mean??? Thanks in advance.

Yes, they're the same, although 2 types have been used (ATE and Girling) so you'll need to check which type you have and order parts appropriate to that type.

If this is so, which brakes did the later 164s have on them? Because these are the ones that tirerack has EBC pads for...
