M47 gearbox bellhousing 200

Dismantling a spare car last week I accidentally broke off part of the clutch bellhousing while trying to release a rusted-in clutch slave cylinder.
I noticed that the bellhousing unbolts from the gearbox, so if I ever needed the box I could replace the damaged section quite easily.
My question is, are all the bellhousings in the M45/46/47 range interchangeable, or will only one from an M47 fit?

Thanks

I think you may have problems if you get the bellhousing from
a PRV or a diesel but these aren't common so you likely don't have
    to worry about it.

I got an m46 from a 80 200 series and needed to swap bell housings when I replaced the tranny in my 86 740 which had an m46. The bellhousings are interchangeable on the tranny, but not for the car.

Since the flywheels and clutches are interchangeable (M47 stepped flywheel and clutch Into M46 car) I would think the bell housings are as well. There is the issue of the crank position sensor cut-out in the top of the bell housing to consider though.

      Thanks everyone.
I knew the front of the bellhousing would be interchangeable, I was not so sure that the bellhousing to gearbox joint would be the same.
I hadn't thought of the sensor thought - i suppose that is just a matter of cutting a hole.
