Problems with my Bertone 200 1980

Hello fellow bricksters! Earlier this year i acquired a 1980 262c Bertone Coupe from a junkyard. And for $1500, I wasnt surprised at all that it doesnt run. I've had about a week to work on the thing and it still wont start. I've followed the instructions from my Haynes manual like a bible. So far I've installed new: spark plugs, air filter, in-tank fuel filter, in-tank fuel pump, oil change, battery, hoses, premium gas, and had the fuel system flushed. I'm positive that theres more thats wrong with it, but I simply dont know what and how to fix it. Any help here would be gladly appreciated.

You are the proud owner of a boat anchor snatch that engine out throw it away and get either a turbo four or a non turbo like 84 model and get the wiring harness and computers every thing bolts up easily only have to tie in about 2 wires to the car at the fuses for fuel pump it sounds hard but cake walk done about 10.

Is the the main fuel pump running? If not, you might try resoldering the
fuel pump relay.

I forgot to mention I also got a new oxygen sensor put in to. If it helps any, when I try to start it the car will fire and run for about a second up to 2500-3000 revs. and then just quit.

Won't jumping fuses 5 and 7 force the fuel pump to run on an '80 260?
You could jump 5 & 7 and see if the car will continue running. To avoid
the risk of flooding, don't leave the pump running after the engine stops turning.

"when I try to start it the car will fire and run for about a second up to 2500-3000 revs. and then just quit."

Check ballast resistor and connections. Finger size cylinder near washer motor under hood hinge-strut area.

Problems with my Bertone 200 1980

From what I've done so far, I know the fuel pump works properly because I've been shot by streams of gas twice. And I dont really know if mine has a AMM or not, but I've read about it in the Haynes. How hard is it to remove the distributor cover to check it?

No AMM in a 1980 Bertone. You can remove the distributor cover but it is a pain. Not much clearance back there and watch all of the vacuum hoses, they come off when you're not looking.I believe you are talking about the distributor cap and not the fuel distributor.Other things to check, cold start injector, auxilary air valve, control pressure regulator. Check the archives or maybe some reading this knows, get a Volvo manual from "Skip" ask him if he has one for Fault tracing CI FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM 240/260. It is well worth the cost. Good luck!

Do 1980 Bertones have Air Mass Meters? Your problem sounds similar to what happened when my AMM died on my 245. If it's got an AMM, unplug it and see what happens.
