Changing coolant return pipe what's needed 900 1991

a 91 940SE wagon, B230FT w/ AW71
I have been doing the spring check everything. After changeing the heater hoses & valve (it snapped when I removed the hose clamp)the movement caused the coolant return pipe (enters back of waterpump) to bend & leak. The tube was very corroded at the support bracket. Has anyone ever changed one & do you have to pull the exhaust manifold?

    Hey ibs740 900 1991

Sorry this is not about your question, but I noticed that you mentioned you were from Eastern Canada in a previous post and I was wondering what part? I'm just outside of Halifax. Also, I noticed that you store one of your Volvos in the winter and I just wanted to let you know that I may be able answer a storage question or two if you have any more. We store our '93 Acura Vigor in the winter (although, indoors). This is it's 5th year of storage, so I've learned a few things along the way that might be able to help :) I'd like to store my 745T next winter, I've just got to get my hands on a good Volvo beater and find a good place to store the 745.....

      Hey ibs740 900 1991

Hi Chris: OK I guess we're in central Canada, Ottawa area. It still gets cold here. Have you ever used Canadian Tire synthetic diff lube? They have Mobile1 ATF but not diff lube.

        Hey ibs740 900 1991

Ottawa eh? Well, I guess we're not that close then :) I'm sure your weather gets at least as cold as ours. The gulf stream helps to keep us warm I think :) As for CTC syn diff lube; No, haven't tried it. My Vo's diff is full of Amsoil 80W90. I have Mobil 1 ATF in the steering system. There's an Amsoil distributor in NB if you want Amsoil. Just go to the Amsoil website and search for dealers in Canada. If you can't find it, send me an email. '91 945SE eh? Nice!

there is a lot more room in a 900 series car. you may be able to sneak the pipe out, but it will be tricky, cause you have a turbo, which brings the manifold much closer to the motor. ive changed those pipes on non turbo cars. and they came out through the back down by the header pipe. good luck
