I recently read an obscure "green book" reference to a change in the control arm stay that said that the "newer" control arms had a washer welded onto the stay that eliminated the need for a second washer (on the outsides of the cone bushings). This apparently also applies to the newer "hydro bushing" model, part number 6819079 (388.5 mm), that has the integral, non-replaceable inner (chassis) bushing. Is it standard practice out there in the trenches to use both washers (at least one shop, I know of, does) on the cone bushings, or is one of the two washers that come in the kit always discarded. One of the reasons for the question is that a new control arm stay, installed 54 weeks ago, has apparently sprung a leak. Has anyone experienced longevity problems with these stays? At over $100.00 each through GAPA, I'd hate to think that replacement was going to be a yearly occurance. Thanks for any help!!
